Why did I get out of bed?
You know those mornings when you wake up and wonder "Why did I even bother getting out of bed?" I haven't had one of those days in awhile, but today was quite the day. Now, it's going to seem childish and lame to write "I can't elaborate until this is finished" but that's the case. I'm hoping to have more news by the middle of the week, but basically I feel like I've fallen on my face and I'm waiting for the coast to clear so I can get back up and keep going.Nanny Diaries
For those of you don't know, I left home over the summer and moved to Virginia to be a nanny to a family of twin girls and a preschooler. I left a lot behind, including friends and my family so that I could live 10 miles from Washington DC and to work for an incredible and fun family. I love what I do and I've been caring for children for most of my life, but this new adventure has taught me so much about children in such a short time. This will likely be the focus of my blog, talking about how I'm doing and what I'm learning from the girls that I take care of. Of course, me falling on my face (figuratively and sometimes literally) will likely be a source of amusement. Links to resources that I reply on will also be a big part of what I blog about. I love doing research and I love getting feedback and finding new resources from other teachers!
NaNoWriMo
It's that time of year again; time for me to write down a few dozen ideas and try to narrow them down to a handful of ideas that flow and write a novel. November and National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and the goal of every writer who participates is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. That basically translates to writing a 1,000+ page high school research paper every day (1,667 words to be exact). For the past two years running, I have attempted NaNoWriMo and given up after about five days. It's not for lack of time and it's not for lack of ideas... it's just pure laziness. This year, however, I have no excuses. I have a job that allows me time during the day and the evening to write, and I have been gathering my ideas for a couple of weeks now and outlining where I want to go with my novel. I'm going to make it to at least day 15 this year! (Please don't ask to see it. I never show my work before it's done!)
